There was once a man who fell in love. It was love at first sight. He discovered that His object of love was has similar qualities as he has. The more He mingled with His beloved, the more the shared interest grew. His love grew to friendship as He walked and talked with His beloved. Of course He never talked about it, because they were walking side by side, and that is all. Yet His feelings grew, the more He appreciated this person. He loved the way the person was interested in life and sought to have a better one at that. He loved the goals and aspirations of this person. He knew that He could give this to His beloved if only He was given more time.
And so His love grew. He wanted to touch His beloved. He wanted maybe a hug or two. He wanted to show affection because that is how He felt He should do. Maybe just a moment with His beloved, just a greeting in the morning or at night, or just a short conversation some time during the day would suffice. Yet He could do nothing because His beloved suddenly became too engrossed with the goals and life. Alas, His beloved seemed to turn away. His beloved didn’t have time. His beloved was too easily transfixed on goals, and dreams. He knew what He had to do.
In agony He plead and cried and asked the Lord above. He knew what He had to do, but was afraid to do it. Should He go now and do it? What would His beloved think? Maybe He was going crazy? But His love was so maddening He was willing to give it all, He was willing to risk it all, no matter the cost. And so, despite His beloved withdrawing, despite all His fears and apprehensions, He went up on top of a mountain, held out His hands and feet, looked up above and offered Himself for His beloved. He looked down with sad eyes, and held His breath. For a moment a tear, and a sob escaped His breath. For a few moments He was dead.
The Man who fell in love, fell in love with you. Despite your protestations and your excuses, He died for you, because if He held back, and He had not died, all your life goals, and aspirations would not come true. Deep down, He knew, that your aspirations and life goals is actually for Him to be with you. He knew what He had to do otherwise there would be no you. The Man who fell in madly in love was Jesus and His love for you is true.
The greatest example of all the four loves is none other than Jesus Christ. He was a whirlwind of love and affection. He was a force of romance and friendship. He was Storge, Philia, Eros and Agape all rolled into one. There was no one who could top His love.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10
He kissed babies and children as mothers or fathers would do. He showed deep affection to man, woman or child that He encounters. He allowed His followers to lean on His bosom each time they are down. Each touch that He gave to heal the sick and wounded was a sign of affection. His sacrifice was more affectionate than any we could give anyone.
He was a true friend to His disciples and followers. He laughed with them, ate with them, drank with them, slept with them and studied with them. He was the best companion anyone could ever have. You can tell your secrets to Him, the good ones or the bad ones, and He would not judge you and would even throw in a sound advice or two.
He was the best lover. He can do more sacrifice than any lover you would ever have. Some may say “I love you from the moon and back,” but He did just that and even more. He hugged, and kissed and offered a loving response to everyone, yes even those who didn’t like Him. He offered sound words of love more than any “I love you” we could ever offer to our beloved. Some other lover would say, “I am willing to take a bullet for you,” yet He did more than that when He died and saved us from our sins.
The best part of it was that His love was Agape. It was unconditional. Even if you move a step or two back, He is right there to pull you back up. His love was unconditional that even if you are too tainted with sin, He is right there to put you back in His arms. His love was unconditional. He never chose people to love, He just loved and gave them all. His life says it all. What more can you ask for? Jesus love is the best expression of all.
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
